You can ease your neck pain while on the road using this simple tip! I travel a lot and as a result of traveling I usually will have a lot of neck tension that builds up. To combat this I will roll up a hotel towel to about 3.5 inches in diameter. I will then lay face up on a flat firm surface and place the roll at the base of my neck. I will lay like this for about 20 minutes at a time.
This exercise helps to alleviate a lot of the stress and tension that builds up in your neck from traveling. The stress that you feel in the neck is the result of forward head posture which accompanies sitting for prolonged periods of time. The head of the average person weighs about 15 lbs. – as the head moves forward beyond the shoulders it causes increased tension and stress at the base of the neck and it will also cause the trap muscles to tighten up. The muscles get fatigued and sore as a result.
Use this exercise to help gain relief from neck pain while traveling! You can even use this exercise to help with chronic neck pain that you feel!
